Andrew Orriss - Sales Director - SIG360 Technical Centre

Topic Title: The devil is in the design detail for energy efficiency

Andrew is a pragmatic and yet determined individual keen to see things done better with a broad experience of issues relating to zero carbon, offsite construction and sustainable building.

Andrew currently manages a number of added value propositions for SIG Distribution.   Andrew set up SIG360 Technical Centre in 2012 which is a service proposition dedicated to taking cost and complexity out of construction through SIG’s impartial product selection of thermal and acoustic insulation solutions, supported by free a U Value and SAP service.  Another is SIG Retrofit at the heart of which is the supply own brand BBA approved retrofit Cavity Wall Insulation installed via a network of approved SIG installers. Andrew is also responsible for managing the SIG BIM Project seeking digital opportunities from this merging building process.

Prior to joining the SIG team Andrew was the Managing Director for a leading Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) manufacturing and installation business based in Coventry.  This was start-up venture in 2008 which lead to a team of 18 employees taking on contracts to provide SIPs homes in the affordable homes market.  Andrew was also instrumental in the setting up of the first UK SIPs Trade Association dedicated to supporting the industry, now part of UKSTA.

This venture followed many years in the Insulation industry starting as a technical representative, but ultimately resulting in Andrew being appointed as Sales and Marketing Director for Jablite Ltd (formerly known as Vencel Resil Ltd).

Andrew has also been active involved in various “think tank” sessions with NHBC, BuildOffsite, Building Research Establishment, CITB, typically discussing use of innovative building materials and the impact on the construction industry.
