Simon joined HTA in 1998, became a Director in 2007 and was a founding Partner of HTA Design LLP in 2013. He is a qualified architect with an MA in Architecture (University of Cambridge 1994), Diploma in Architecture and Diploma in Urban Design (Oxford Brookes 1998), registering with the Architect’s Registration Board (ARB) in 1999.
He is a member of the RIBA and is an active member of its Housing Group, is an Academician of the AoU and a regular contributor to both trade and national press on housing matters. Simon became Managing Partner of HTA in 2016, continuing the growth of the practice’s reputation both as designers of great places, and as a great place to work, having been awarded Employer of the Year at the 2018 AJ100 Awards.
Simon continues to be very involved in project work, and leads one HTA’s largest studios with a focus on delivering better housing for all.
Speaking on day one of 2020 Offsite Housing Simon will explore the design and delivery of 101 George Street in Croydon, the world’s tallest modular building, which is due to complete on site in Spring 2020. Designed by HTA Design and built by Tide Construction and Vision Modular Systems the building provides a case study for harnessing the benefits of modular construction to deliver better places to live, faster and more sustainably.
